Wood-Mizer Partners with Tree Canada

Wood-Mizer partners with Tree Canada to support the non-profit organization’s mission to “improve the lives of Canadians by planting and nurturing trees.” The collaboration continues Wood-Mizer's long time commitment to the environment by supporting Tree Canada's National Greening program, the organization's carbon compensation and mass seedling planting program across Canada.
Since 1982, Wood-Mizer has manufactured sawmilling equipment that utilizes a thin-kerf bandsaw blade resulting in more material recovery, less waste, and reduced energy consumption when processing timber into building material. In addition, Wood-Mizer has supported programs for decades that promote proper forest management to reduce the impact of forest fires, desertification, landslides, erosion, and deforestation.
“People are very much aware of the need to conserve and maintain our forests,” said John Smith, Wood-Mizer President and CEO. “They realize how important it is for the environment and preserving this resource for the future. Tree Canada is the only national non-profit organization in Canada dedicated to planting and nurturing trees in rural and urban environments. Through their programs, research and engagement efforts, Tree Canada has helped restore tree cover in areas hit by natural disasters, guided communities in managing their urban forests, supported over 700 schoolyard greening projects and organized urban forest conferences.
